I received a Bachelor
of Science degree from Northern Illinois University
with majors in Biology and Environmental Studies. I then came to
realize I could do more for the environment as an attorney/advocate
than I could as a scientist. To this end, I went to University
of Oregon Law School receiving my Juris Doctor
in 1982 with an Advanced Certificate in Natural Resources Law.
I was admitted to the Washington Bar in 1983, and
started my own law practice in 1984, focusing on Environmental and Land
Use issues, representing neighbors, neighborhood and environmental
groups. I am also admitted to practice in the Western District of
Washington Federal Court, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
I live in Vancouver, Washington with my wife and two sons, who actively support my work, our cat, tropical fish, and our puppies who frequently come to the office with us.
